IMPORTANT! Safety Protocols & Facility Entry Details

Player safety is our number one priority. All protocols set by AHS, Calgary Minor Soccer, Alberta Soccer, and each facility will be followed strictly to ensure players, staff and each family’s safety. Please read all safety protocols and facility entry/exit details carefully:

Players grouping

For an unmatched & positive Coach to player ratio players will be split into 2 groups upon arrival, forming groups of 4 - 8 players. The player will be informed of their group upon arrival each day.

Our goal at 1UP is to ensure every player receives a positive training environment that is best suited for their individual development. As per Canada Soccer Guidelines, player groupings may change from day to day.

Summer Training Menu (Training Topics & Curriculum)

It is crucial that at a young age our grassroots player develop a relationship with the ball and create a strong base that can later be built upon with more technical movements and manipulations. This is why it is important that players get as many touches possible in a session and everyone is on the ball for the entire duration. Below are all the topics that we will work on in rotation through out these next 2 months.

*Please note this curriculum is flexible and up to the coaches discretion.

  • Cuts & Turns (Change of direction)

    1. Touch ball before turning the body

    2. Inside, outside & roll

    3. Slice a block of cheese (foot come over the ball, not around the ball)

    4. Turbo time!! Change of speed!

  • Dribbling (Close control and running with the ball)

    1. Dinosaur on a leash (weight of touch)

    2. Toe Down like a ballerina

    3. Top of the foot (Laces, one foot only)

    4. Run away with your dinosaur (go as fast as you can)

  • Aerial Finishing & Control

    1. Contact ball on its way down

    2. Point toes down, use laces

    3. 6 inch sub from the ground

    4. Follow through forwards, not up!

  • Receiving (Controlling a pass)

    1. Be bouncy! (Be on the balls of your feet)

    2. Eyes watch the ball, the body gets infront of it!

    3. Glue on your feet (Try and get the ball to stick to your foot)
